Firepits are one of the most rewarding additions to a garden, and also one that deserves a bit of care in where and how you use it. Here’s what to think about before you light your first fire.

Choosing a location
- Keep your firepit a safe distance from anything flammable — fences, sheds, overhanging trees and hedges.
- As a general guide, UK safety advice recommends at least 3 metres (around 10 feet) between a firepit and any building or combustible structure.
- Always stand your firepit on a non-combustible surface. A natural stone slab is ideal — it gives a good heat gap between the firepit and any decking or grass beneath it.
- Avoid placing directly on wooden decking, dry leaves or grass without protection underneath — sparks and radiant heat can scorch or damage these surfaces.
- Check for any local council rules that may apply in your area, particularly if you live in a smoke control zone.
Using your firepit safely
- Never leave a lit firepit unattended.
- Keep children and pets at a safe distance while it’s lit and while it’s cooling.
- Keep a bucket of water, sand, or a hose nearby just in case.
- Be mindful of wind direction — sparks can travel further than you’d expect in a breeze.
- Allow the firepit to cool fully before moving it or cleaning out ash.
Installation
We don’t offer an installation service, but our firepits are simple to site — they just need lifting into place. Most sizes are a two-person lift; the larger 900mm and 1200mm pieces are best moved with three to four people. Once it’s positioned on its base, you’re ready to light your first fire.
