Every Firepit Sphere and Firepit Bowl is made from 6mm British steel, hand-drawn and hand-cut by our in-house artist, then ground smooth for a clean, safe finish. It’s built to last decades, not seasons — here’s how to keep it looking its best.

Natural finish: virtually no maintenance
If you’ve chosen a natural steel finish, your firepit is maintenance-free. Steel of this thickness will naturally develop a weathered patina over time as it’s exposed to fire and the elements — this is part of the character of the piece, not a fault, and won’t affect its structural life.
Painted finish: a yearly touch-up
If you’ve chosen a heat-resistant painted finish, the paintwork may need touching up once a year to keep it looking sharp. We include a tin of matching paint with every painted firepit so you’ve always got it to hand.
Between fires
- Let the firepit cool completely before cleaning out ash or embers.
- Remove ash regularly — a build-up can hold moisture against the steel.
- If you’re using Eco Firepit Fuel, let any spent refill cool fully before removing it from the burner.
Left outside, all year round
Unlike many garden firepits, ours are designed to live outdoors permanently — you don’t need to cover them or bring them in for winter. The 6mm steel is built to weather rain, frost and sun without damage, so it’s ready to light whenever you are.
And when it’s not lit, it doesn’t just sit there waiting for its next fire. Each design is a piece of hand-drawn, hand-cut sculptural art in its own right — a striking garden feature day and night, whether there’s a flame in it or not. It’s one of the things that sets a Firepit Company piece apart from a standard off-the-shelf firepit: you’re not buying something to hide away in the shed, you’re buying a garden feature that happens to also be a firepit.
How long will it last?
Made from 6mm steel, our firepits are built to last 20+ years, left outside in all weathers.
