Choosing the right cooking accessory

Getting the fire ready to cook on
- Build your fire and let it burn down until you have a solid bed of glowing embers rather than tall flames — this gives you steady, even heat rather than scorching.
- Position your grill or tripod over the embers once the flames have settled.
- Move food to the cooler edges of the grill if you need to slow the cooking down, and back over the centre for direct heat.
After cooking
Let the fire burn out naturally or extinguish it safely, and allow the grill or tripod to cool completely before cleaning and storing it.
