Founded in 2013, our first English Country Firepit Sphere was created on a farm on the Essex–Suffolk border, where we’re still based today. Individually drawn, cut, and finished by hand using steel, with suppliers chosen as locally as possible and always within the UK, proudly Made in Britain.
When you choose one of our fire pits or spheres, you’re choosing more than a garden feature — you’re choosing British craftsmanship, designed to be enjoyed for many years. Are fire pits legal in the UK?
Yes, fire pits are legal across the UK. The main thing to check is whether you're in a smoke control area (much of London and parts of other major cities), where you'll need smokeless fuel or an exempt appliance. Elsewhere, just make sure smoke doesn't become a nuisance to neighbours, and check with your local council for any specific bylaws.
Is it worth having a fire pit?
For most gardens, yes. A well-made fire pit extends the garden season well into autumn evenings and gives you a natural gathering point for family and friends. Built from proper steel rather than thin sheet metal, it will last for years rather than rusting through after one summer.
What's the best thing to burn in a fire pit?
Kiln-dried or well-seasoned hardwood logs certified "Ready to Burn" burn hottest and cleanest, with minimal smoke. Our Eco-Fuel low odourless smoke or smokeless briquettes are a good option if you're in a smoke control area. Avoid damp or green wood, it smokes heavily and burns poorly.
What should you never burn in a fire pit?
Avoid treated, painted or varnished wood, plywood, MDF and chipboard as they release toxic fumes when burned, along with household waste, plastics, and damp or unseasoned logs without Ready to Burn certification.
